With numerous streaming platforms, it can get difficult when it comes to choosing a good show. Fortunately, Amazon has been changing the game lately with its numerous original series. Even though the variety of choice is not as wide as with Netflix, the quality is very good. If you are looking for an interesting show to binge watch, you’ve come to the right place. Here is a list of the best Amazon original series which most definitely leave you wanting more!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
This Emmy awarded comedy with an IMDb rating of 8.7 will amaze you with its brilliance and wit. The storyline begins when a woman called Midge Maisel, a perfect 1950s housewife whose husband decides to leave her, accidentally ends up delivering an amusing set in an old, ruined club. The booker of the club, Susie Meyerson, immediately becomes interested in her. Just like that, while her private life is being destroyed, our housewife strives to become a stand-up comic during the time when females were mostly that – housewives.
This series promises to keep you entertained with its unusual mixture of feminism, comedy, and history and will also make you wonder about gender roles, but in an amusing way.
Patriot
This show is very well received by the audience, has an IMDb rating of 8.3, though it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Giving a short description of it would not do it much justice since the series is much deeper. It follows a man called John Tavner a non-official cover in the CIA. He works as a pipe company engineer in order to hide, even though he has no skills required for it. His mission is to get the money from one location to another. The series is about hardships that he encounters while on his mission.
A lot of things get in the way: a murder, Tavner’s nature and his relationships with his closest people and co-workers. As this pitch-black comedy progresses, things get even more complicated and promise to keep the viewers at the edge of their seats.
Sneaky Pete
An IMDb rating of 8.3 certainly looks promising, and in case of this show, it definitely is. A former convict Marius owes staggering $100,000 to a guy called Vick, so he decides that it is best to hide in a small town by impersonating Pete, his former prison cellmate. Having gathered enough information about Pete during the years, Marius finds it easy to fit into his family.
What makes it even easier is the fact that they haven’t seen the real Pete since he turned 11 years old. A perfect scenario for a con man! Marius tries to steal the money from the family’s safe in order to be able to pay back his debts in time before Vick becomes even more furious and cuts his brother’s fingers off. Sounds like a lot of fun, right? Well, wait until you actually start watching it!
